Jev lands on Vercel AI Gateway and OpenRouter
On 16 September 2026, Vercel shipped TypeSafe AI’s Jev on AI Gateway. Changelog model id: typesafe-ai/jev. AI SDK 7 exposes it through experimental_evaluate — Choice, Score, and Boolean over a shared state, with typed answers and probabilities (no text parse step).
OpenRouter lists the live model as typesafe/jev-1.13 — $0.042 / $0 per 1M tokens (input / output), 32K context (page checked 19 Sep 2026). That same week OpenRouter and TypeSafe also posted explainers / handshake notes.
A Vercel post claimed ~13% of AI Gateway teams used Jev on day one (2× the GPT-5.6 family, 6× Fable 5.1). That adoption figure is unverified beyond the tweet — not independently verified by ModelSystem.One.
Workflow multiples in the changelog (up to 193.6× faster / 444.6× cheaper vs LLMs) remain TypeSafe vendor claims.
Update, 17 Oct 2026: Vercel’s own numbers
Vercel’s AI Gateway Production Index, October 2026 (data through September) now gives measured figures. In its first 14 days on the gateway Jev reached 35.3% of paid teams, the fastest adoption of any model in the gateway’s history and nearly double second-placed Claude Sonnet 5.5 (18.1%). It also received the most requests of any model in September, and 55.6% of the teams that tried it in week one returned in week two (fifth highest). It took only 0.27% of gateway spend in those two weeks (0.15% of September’s spend, 1% of tokens), against 11.03% for Claude Opus 5.5: a decision model is tried widely and is a sliver of the bill. TechCrunch (16 Oct) reports the same data, adds that Vercel itself replaced GPT-6 Luna with Jev to classify harmful commands, and warns that a gateway undercounts labs with their own APIs.
Two caveats. The index lists Jev’s gateway launch as 17 Sep, while the changelog above is dated 16 Sep; we keep the changelog date and note the difference. And the earlier “~13% on day one” tweet is still not confirmed: the index reports 14-day reach, not a day-one figure. These are Vercel’s measurements, not ModelSystem.One’s. See the Jev page.
