Laya vs Jev — T-Rex arena demo on Apple Silicon

On 21 September 2026, virajbhartiya/laya-vs-jev published an Apache-2.0 arena: Laya runs locally on Apple Silicon via MLX while Jev calls TypeSafe’s hosted API, both choosing moves on a shared Chrome T-Rex obstacle course with live latency charts and crash replays.

The repo also carries the laya-mlx runtime (MLX port of ConvAI’s Laya, with HF checkpoints such as aac6fef/laya-multilingual-mlx). It is a demo / runtime consumer, not a new catalog model.

Hygiene: the README states a deterministic planner labels candidate moves and safety checks can override unsafe or stale choices — assisted scores measure the combined system, not raw model skill. Use --unassisted to disable shields. MLX latency tables and Snake throughput numbers in the same README are author-reported (UnverifiedClaim), separate from T-Rex gameplay.
