Perplexity released Decider for Mac on 23 October 2026 (docs; community post). The menu-bar app downloads pplx-decider-flash-v1.2 (4B) as a q8_0 GGUF (about 5.8 GB) plus a vision projector, and serves the same Decisions API at http://127.0.0.1:8080/v1/decisions, with no API key and no bill.

  • Apple silicon (M1+), macOS 13+, 16 GB of memory; text and images.
  • One question per request with the flash model.
  • Same JSON as the hosted API: switching is a URL change plus an Authorization header. Perplexity warns that the local weights are not the hosted deployment, so thresholds tuned locally should be rechecked.

No local latency or accuracy numbers are published. More on the model: pplx-decider.
